That was one of the underlying questions asked in Brief 2 of the Line of Site Competition 2008. It was a tough one, and could certainly be considered out of the ordinary; however, that did not quell the enthusiasm of numerous architects from around the world. The brief called for a City Transportation Interchange, a system that would integrate traditional rail, road and air transportation with more sustainable local methods. Matthew Wells of Techniker and Wolf Mangelsdorf of Buro Happold (see judging) spent hours examining the shortlisted submissions and selected their winners and two runners-up. The full set of entries can be seen in the Line of Site Gallery. Each brief is very different and the Grand Final promises to be a high-calibre event.
